The half-lives of chlorsulfuron in two non-sterile soils were 5 days and 15 days at 30 deg C compared to the half-lives of 21 days and 28 days, respectively, in the sterile soils(1). Microbial breakdown accounted for 79% of the total initial degradation in a silt loam soil (pH 5.9, organic matter 5%), 50% in a sandy loam soil (pH 6.5, organic matter 1%) and 91% in a silt loam soil (pH 8.0, organic matter 5%)(1).
