Colorless transparent crystal or granular crystalline powder, a little special smell.A water salt is a colorless crystal with hygroscopicity.Soluble in water and ethanol, with a solubility of about 100(15℃) in 10% water and a pH value of 8.5~10.5.For mold, yeast and bacteria have a wide range of antibacterial effects, in the most active acid pH.Used as a preservative for food, as a preservative for cakes and as a mildew preventive for bread.Sodium propionate is virtually nontoxic to humans.The dosage in food is the same as calcium propionate (by propionic acid).The maximum allowable concentration for use in cosmetics is 2%(in propionic acid).It was prepared from propionic acid and neutralized by sodium hydroxide
