What is Propofol used for?

Propofol injection is used to help you relax or sleep before and during surgery or other medical procedures. This medicine is an anesthetic and a sedative. Propofol may also be used to sedate coronavirus (COVID-19) patients who need mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Recommended dosages of Propofol

Most patients require 1.5-9mg/kg/h Propofol. The infusion may be supplemented by bolus administration of upto 1 mg/kg body weight. if a rapid increase of depth of sedation is required. In ASA III and IV patients lower doses may be required.
