Acetyl tetrapeptide-2 is a mimic of the cell maturation factor produced by the thymus. Oxytocin acts locally on keratinocytes, inducing the intracellular synthesis of paracrine and autocrine mediators. Oxytocin then stimulates keratinocytes to produce GM-CSF (granulocyte macrophage colony stimulating factor).
Mechanism:
1) Acetyl tetrapeptide-2 promotes the synthesis of FBLN5 and LOXL1 and enhances their activity
2) Acetyl tetrapeptide-2 improves elastin synthesis
3) Acetyl tetrapeptide-2 up-regulates the expression of genes related to the synthesis of focal adhesion protein and collagen, which greatly increases the synthesis of type I collagen
