Oxytetracycline hydrochloride is commonly used as its hydrochloride, which is yellow crystalline powder, odorless, bitter in taste; it has hygroscopicity; it becomes darker when exposed to light, and it is easily damaged and invalidated in alkaline solution. It is easily soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, and insoluble in chloroform or ether.
Product Use
It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic. Its antibacterial spectrum and principle are basically the same as those of tetracycline. It has antibacterial activity against gram-positive bacteria, meningococcus, gonorrhoeae and other gram-negative bacteria.
