Ferulic acid used in the skin care industry is mainly based on the whitening and antioxidant effects of ferulic acid. Ferulic acid can inhibit or reduce the proliferation activity of melanocytes.A 0.1-0.5% ferulic acid solution can make melanocytes,The quantity is reduced from 117±23/mm2 to 39±7/mm2;ferulic acid can also inhibit the activity of tyrosinase.A ferulic acid solution with a concentration of 5mmol/L can inhibit tyrosinase activity as high as 86 %. Even if the concentration of ferulic acid solution is only 0.5mmol/L,its inhibition rate of tyrosinase activity can reach about 35%.Ferulic acid also has the ability to scavenge oxygen free radicals and good anti-oxidation.Ferulic acid has sun protection ability.Ferulic acid can effectively absorb ultraviolet rays in the wavelength range of 290-330nm to prevent or reduce the damage of this wavelength of ultraviolet rays to the skin.

1. Ferulic acid can protect skin against sun

The chemical black name of ferulic acid is 4-hydroxy 3-methoxycinnamic acid. Among them, the commonly used sunscreen is "Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate (OMC)". Therefore, both of the cinnamic acid family, ferulic acid also has the effect of absorbing ultraviolet rays and sunscreen. It is also recognized as one of the sunscreens in Japan.

2. Ferulic acid can resist oxidation

3. Ferulic acid can be anti-inflammatory

On the one hand, ferulic acid can cut off the key link in the inhibition of inflammation, such as affecting the metabolism of arachidonic acid, inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandin PEG2, and can also calm the immune system and reduce the activation of mast cells, which can play an anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effect.
