Favipiravir (T-705)

Favipiravir functions as a prodrug and undergoes ribosylation and phosphorylation intracellularly to become the active favipiravir-RTP.[A191688,A191724] Favipiravir-RTP binds to and inhibits RNA dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp), which ultimately prevents viral transcription and replication.

 Favipiravir can be used for antiviral treatment of influenza a and b. Research shows that, in addition to influenza virus, the
drug
also showed good antiviral activity against a variety of RNA viruses, such as ebola virus, sand virus, bunya virus, rabies virus.
