What is TRICACHNINE?

Description

he juice of Tricachna vestita contains this alkaloid which is optically inactive and forms colourless prisms from CHCI3. It is freely soluble in EtOH, sparingly so in CHCI3 and insoluble in Et2O and H20. The crystalline picrate melts at 173.5°C; the perchlorate forms colourless rods, m.p. 236°C and the aurichloride, red scales, m.p. 174°C (dec.). Both the hydrochloride and the sulphate are non_x0002_crystallizable.
