What is THALICTINE?
Description
This bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloid occurs in the leaves and stems of Thalictrum thunbergii. It has been obtained as an amorphous powder with no definite melting point. The base is optically active having a specific rotation of [α]28D - 15.8° (c 1.20, CHCI3). Chemical evidence shows it to contain three methoxyl groups and one phenolic hydroxyl group in the molecule.
