What is SEREDINE?
Description
A Rauwolfia alkaloid, this base occurs in the roots of R. vomitora Afz. and yields small prisms from MeOH. The specific rotation is extremely small,[α]20D - 1° (c 0.43, CHC13) and the base may, indeed, be classed as optically inactive in this solvent. It has been demonstrated that the alkaloid is isomeric with the methyl ester of reserpic acid.
