What is S-( - )-PRONUCIFERINE?
Description
Also obtained from Papaver caucasicum, this form of pronuciferine also occurs in P. persicum. It has a specific rotation of [α]20D - 109° ± 3° (c 0.29, EtOH). The ultraviolet spectrum in EtOH consists of two absorption maxima at 230 and 280 nm. Treatment with acids brings about a rearrangement to (+)-nuciferoline.
