What is RUZORINE?

Description

This hepatotoxic alkaloid, also present in Senecio ruwenzoriensis, decomposes when heated from 134°C. It is soluble in H20 and all common organic solvents with the exception of Et20, AcOEt and Me2CO. The hydrochloride decomposes gradually from 100- 148° C; the nitrate behaves similarly from 110-133.7° C and the picrate has m.p. 125-137°C (dec.).
