What is RAUMITORINE?

Description

A yohimbine type alkaloid isolated from Rauwolfia vornitora, the base yields colourless needles from MeOH and has [α]²⁰_D + 60° (c 0.54, CHCl3). The ultraviolet spectrum shows absorption maxima at 228, 279 and a shoulder at 295 mll. A methoxyl group. a methyl group and a methoxycarbonyl group are present as substituents.
