L-?α-?Phosphatidic Acid (Soy) (Sodium Salt) is a natural lipid compound. Glycerophospholipids act as regulators of various enzyme activities, and can be used as biological markers to indicate pathological states.
General Description
Phosphatidic acid (PA) is a diacyl-glycerophospholipid, with two fatty acids and a phosphate group that are covalently attached to a glycerol molecule through ester linkages. PA is rich in soy lecithin. PA is produced endogenously by the hydrolytic action of the enzyme phospholipase D. It is also produced through phosphorylation of diacyl glycerol (DAG) by diacylglycerol kinases (DGKs).
Biochem/physiol Actions
Phosphatidic acid (PA) is present in biomembranes. It is the precursor for other phospholipids and acts as a signaling molecule. PA is implicated in NAPDH oxidase (NOX) activity.
