What is OLIV ACINE N-OXIDE?
Description
The bark of Aspidosperma nigricans Handro furnishes this indole alkaloid which, on crystallization from MeOH or AcOEt, gives bright yellow crystals that are unstable in moist air. The ultraviolet spectrum exhibits several absorption maxima at 236, 252, 300, 311,330 and 345 mJ.1. This alkaloid is also obtained from Olivacine (q.v.) by oxidation with perbenzoic acid in CHCI 3 .
