What is KOPSINOLINE?

Description

This alkaloid occurs in the bark of Pleiocarpa mutica Benth. and P. tubicina Stapf. It is laevorotatory with [α]22D - 70.1 ° (c 0.48, CHCI3 ). The base is iden_x0002_tical with kopsinine N(b)-oxide and the ultraviolet spectrum has absorption maxima at 205, 244 and 295 mfJ.. The hydrochloride is crystalline and has m.p. 198- 200°C (dec.) as is also the methiodide, m.p. 263°C (dec.).
