The Uses of Ketene t-Butyldimethylsilyl Methyl Acetal
Ketene t-Butyldimethylsilyl Methyl Acetal can be used in silylation of a variety of substrates; promotion of Pummerer reaction of sulfoxides; Lewis acid mediated aldol-type and Michael additions, under either stoichiometric or catalytic conditions.
Preparation
Ketene t-Butyldimethylsilyl Methyl Acetal can be obtained by reaction of methyl acetate with lithium diisopropylamide in THF/HMPA and subsequent trapping with t-butyldimethylchlorosilane (72% yield).
