What is KESSELRIDINE (Alkaloid K-J 0)?
Description
A colchicine alkaloid, this base from Colchicum kesselringii does not possess the usual colchicine type structure. It crystallizes as colourless needles from Me2COEtOh and gives a crystalline hydrochloride with m.p. 263°C and the methiodide, m.p. 250°C. The structure of the base has been elucidated from infrared, ultraviolet NMR and mass spectrometry.
