What is IREHlNE?

Description

A further pregnene alkaloid present in the flowers of Funturnia elastica (Preuss) Stapf., this base also occurs in Buxus sernpervirens L. The alkaloid is laevorotatory with [α]_D - 46° and yields a crystalline O-acetate, m.p. 182°C; [α]²⁵_D - 45.4° (CHCI3). The structure, as determined from NMR and mass spectrometry, is 20a-dimethylaminopregn-5-en-3~-01.
