Ethyl picolinate can be used in the preparation of 2-Aminodihydro[1,3]thiazines as BACE 2 inhibitors and their preparation and use in the treatment of diabetes.

Ethyl picolinate is used in the preparation of 2-Aminodihydro[1,3]thiazines as BACE 2 inhibitors which is used in the treatment of diabetes. It is also used as pharmaceutical intermediate.

Preparation
Dissolve 2-methylpyridine in water, add potassium permanganate in batches under vigorous stirring to react in the aqueous solution, and after all the potassium permanganate has reacted, add concentrated HCl to adjust the pH value, then boil with benzene for 2 hours to extract the product 2-picolinic acid, and then prepare the Ethyl picolinate through ethanol hydrolysis reaction.
