Its relatively low cost (not nearly as low as Benzylacetate) makes it useful in ordinary fragrances for household products, etc. industrial odors, masking odors, etc.

A skin irritant. When heated to decomposition it emits acrid smoke and irritating fumes.
Synthesis
Decahydro-2-naphthoacetate is synthesized by acetylation of rram-Decahydrobera-naphthol.
