Preparation

Chromium(III) hydroxide may be prepared by precipitation from mixing ammonium hydroxide solution with a soluble chromium(III) salt, such as chromium(III) chloride or nitrate:
CrCl₃ + 3NH₄OH → Cr(OH)₃ + 3NH₄Cl.
