The Uses of Angiotensin acetate

[Asn¹, Val⁵]-Angiotensin II has been used:

• to study the effects of ACTH, serotonin, Ang II, carbachol and elevated [K⁺] on catecholamine and serotonin release
• to induce cyclophilin D (CypD)–dependent mitochondrial vascular superoxide (O2^{. -} ) production in hypertension
• to increase the homocysteine-induced ER stress-inducible, ubiquitin-like domain member 1 (HERPUD1) protein level in HeLa cells

General Description

Angiotensin II is a renin-angiotensin system (RAS) effector molecule, which binds to angiotensin II type-1 (AT₁R) and angiotensin II type-2 (AT₂R) receptors. The gene is located on human chromosome 3q24. Angiotensin II is mainly expressed in vessel walls, lung and kidney.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Synthetic angiotensin agonist that is involved in the regulation of blood pressure, water consumption, and hydromineral balance in fish.
