What is ALKALOID LS-A?

Description

Laurelia sernpervirens yields this alkaloid which occurs primarily in the leaves. It forms colourless needles when recrystallized from MeOH or Me2CO and is dextrorotatory with a specific rotation of [α]_D + 150°. The methiodide crystallizes from EtOH as colourless prisms and has a melting point of 242-4°C.
