What is ALKALOID CP-II?
Description
A second alkaloid isolated from the mycelium of Claviceps paspali, this base has five tertiary methyl groups, one hydroxyl group and an ether oxygen in the molecule. It forms a crystalline O-acetate, m.p. 196°C which may also be purified by recrystallization from hexane or by sublimation. This derivative has a specific rotation of [α]D - 17° (c 0.66, CHCI3).
