What is Alkaline Earth Peroxydisulfate Salts?

Description

Beryllium peroxydisulfate remains unknown. Magnesium peroxydisulfate has the molecular formula of MgS2O8 and the molecular weight of 216.4322 g/mol. It can be prepared by the reaction of barium peroxydisulfate with magnesium sulfate in solution:
BaS2O8(aq)+ MgSO4(aq) ? BaSO4(solid)+ MgS2O8(aq)
The barium sulfate precipitate is removed by filtration and the solution is evaporated at a low temperature of about 15–20°C to produce the hexahydrate, MgS2O8·6H2O.
STRONTIUM PEROXODISULFATE
Strontium peroxodisulfate has the molecular formula of SrS2O8 and a molecular weight of 279.7472 g/mol. It has been synthesized by the reaction of solid Sr(OH)2, taken in 30% excess, with an aqueous solution of (NH4)2S2O8:
Sr(OH)2 + (NH4)2S2O8 ? SrS2O8 + 2NH4OH
This solution is then evaporated at low temperature to form crystals of the tetrahydrate. Strontium peroxydisulfate has been used to etch copper circuits in the manufacture of integrated circuits for computers and the like. However, it is only mentioned in patents and there are no papers in the scientific literature describing its physical properties.
BARIUM PEROXODISULFATE
Barium peroxodisulfate has the molecular formula of BaS2O8 and a molecular weight of 329.4572 g/mol. It has been synthesized by the reaction of solid Ba(OH)2, taken in 30% excess, with an aqueous solution of (NH4)2S2O8:
Ba(OH)2+ (NH4)2S2O8 ? BaS2O8+2NH4OH
This solution is then evaporated at low temperature to form crystals of the tetrahydrate.
Barium peroxydisulfate has been used to etch copper circuits in the manufacture of integrated circuits for computers and the like. However, it is only mentioned in patents and there are no papers in the scientific literature describing its physical properties.
Barium peroxydisulfate, BaS2O8, in sharp contrast with the sulfate, is soluble in water. Among the uses of this compound is the saponification of fats and of soap, the oxidation of some dyestuffs and the promotion of certain polymerization processes, especially in the synthetic rubber industry.
