4,4-Dimethyl-1-pentene is obtained by the S(N)2′ attack of the organolithium on allyl ether.
Purification Methods
Purify it by passing through alumina before use [Traylor et al. J Am Chem Soc 109 3625 1987]. [Beilstein 1 IV 869.]
