What is 3-dodecylaminopropionic acid?
Chemical properties
A light-colored or colorless transparent liquid, and the infrared characteristic absorption peak is around 1 400 cm-1. Sensitive to pH, the isoelectric point is around pH 4. Easily soluble in water and ethanol under the condition of strong acid and strong alkali, with good stability to hard water and heat, excellent foaming power and wetting power.
The Uses of 3-dodecylaminopropionic acid
3-dodecylaminopropionic acid is an amino acid type amphoteric surfactant, used as detergent, cleaning conditioner, antistatic agent for synthetic fibers, softener, etc. It can also be used in shampoo.
Synthesis
3-dodecylaminopropionic acid was synthesized by reacting dodecylamine with methyl acrylate heated at 100℃ for 10-30 min.
