What is 2-ISOBUTYL-4-HYDROXY-4-METHYLTETRAHYDROPYRAN?
Chemical properties
2-Isobutyl-4-methyltetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-ol is a colorless to pale yellow
liquid with a fresh, soft, and natural floral odor.
Cyclocondensation of 3-methyl-3-buten-l-ol with 3-methylbutanal on silica gel
and alumina in the absence of solvents is proposed for synthesis. The material
consists of a cis/trans-isomer mixture. The proportion of the more valuable
cis-isomer can be increased by using dilute sulfuric acid as catalyst.
Flammability and Explosibility
Non flammable
