The Uses of 2-BENZYL-2-BUTANOL
2-BENZYL-2-BUTANOL is used in perfume compositions, partly for delicate floral fragrance types, part Iy for green-mossy or Oriental types. It blends excellently with Oakmoss and Vetiver, but also forms soft and natural-green floral notes with Heliotropine, Anisylacetate etc. in Lilac or Lindenblossom.
Preparation
By Grignard type synthesis from Benzyl magnesium bromide plus Methyl ethyl ketone.
