Synthesis
4,8-Diamino-1,5-dihydroxyanthraquinone is prepared from 1,5-dihydroxy-4,8-dinitroanthraquinone by reduction with sodium sulfide; from 1,5-diphenoxyanthraquinone by nitration, cleavage, and reduction ; a process improvement is described in ; or from 4,8-diamino-1,5- dihydroxyanthraquinone-2,6-disulfonic acid by desulfonation .
