Isolated from Symplocos lancifolia and Juglans sinensis, it exhibits antioxidant and antimicrobial activities. It has a role as a metabolite, an antibacterial agent, an antifungal agent and an antioxidant. It is a pentacyclic triterpenoid and a hydroxy monocarboxylic acid. It derives from a hydride of an oleanane.
