Hydroxyethyl Cellulose

Hydroxyethyl cellulose is a white or slightly yellow odorless, tasteless and flowable powder. It is soluble in cold water and soluble in hot water, but generally insoluble in most organic solvents. The viscosity changes little in the range of 2-12, but the viscosity decreases beyond this range.

Hydroxyethyl cellulose is generally used as a thickening agent, protective agent, binder, stabilizer, and an additive in the preparation of emulsions, jellies, ointments, lotions, eye cleansers, suppositories and tablets, and is also used as a hydrophilic gel.
