ETH 1001, also known as Calcium ionophore I, is a a Ca2+ selective ionophore for biological membranes. Eth-1001 can be used in microelectrodes for the determination of intracellular Ca2+-activities and of slowly changing Ca2+ levels. ETH 1001 promoted Ca2+ flux across RBC membranes under various experimental conditions. ETH 1001 did not promote the passive movement of Mg2+.
