Sodium chlorite is a sodium salt of chlorite, chemical formula NaClO2, used in the paper industry. It is strongly oxidizing and should be stored away from contact with organic and reducing substances to prevent explosion.
Properties: white or microstrip yellowish powder or granular crystal, is a kind of strong oxidant, acid release cios ₂ gas.
Danger: strong oxidation. It is decomposed and heated at 175℃, and it will explode violently when contacting with combustible materials, so safety should be paid attention to.
Application
Sodium chlorite is mainly used in producing chlorine dioxide disinfectants, in bleaching pure cotton, flax, fiber, oil, pulp, and etc.
