Ethyl p-aminobenzoate, also known as benzocaine, chemical formula is C9H11NO2, is an organic compound. It is a colorless rhomboid crystal, odorless and tasteless. Soluble in alcohol, ether soluble in almond oil, olive oil, dilute acid, insoluble in water. Clinically used to relieve pain and itching of wounds, ulcers, burns, chafed skin and hemorrhoids

Chemical properties:
Benzocaine is a white needle-like crystal with a melting point of 90-92°C, slightly soluble in water and easily soluble in organic solvents. Such as: ethanol, ether, soluble in almond oil, olive oil.

1. Ultraviolet absorber. Mainly used in sunscreen and tanning cosmetics, it is chemically stable to light and air, safe for the skin, and has the ability to form a film on the skin. It can effectively absorb ultraviolet rays in the 280-320μm medium wave light region in the U.V.B region. The addition amount is usually about 4%.
2. Local anesthetics, used for relieving itching and pain in wounds, ulcers and hemorrhoids, with a concentration of 5% to 20%, and also used as intermediates in drug synthesis and organic synthesis.
