2,6-Dihydroxypurine, also called xanthine, is a compound formed by the fusion of a pyrimidine ring and an imidazole ring. It is a yellow flaky crystal, hardly soluble in water, alcohol, and easily soluble in ammonia and hydroxide. Sodium is dissolved in solution. At pH6, there is maximum absorption at 267nm wavelength. There is no melting point for thermal decomposition. This product is soluble in sodium hydroxide solution, ammonia water and acidic solution, slightly soluble in water and ethanol, insoluble in organic solvents
Application:
Used in biochemical research and organic synthesis, can be used for food coloring, and can also be added to poultry feed to increase the yellowness of poultry egg yolk
