This product can selectively block the presynaptic α2 receptor and promote the release of norepinephrine. It can release more norepinephrine from cavernous nerve endings, reduce penile venous reflux, and facilitate congestion and erection. When applied in a small amount, it can cause swelling of perineum, stimulate erection center of spinal cord and make sexual function hyperactive. Can be used for functional impotence.

Pharmacological action

This product can selectively block the presynaptic α2 receptor and promote the release of norepinephrine. It can release more norepinephrine from cavernous nerve endings, reduce penile venous reflux, and facilitate congestion and erection. When applied in a small amount, it can cause swelling of perineum, stimulate erection center of spinal cord and make sexual function hyperactive. The yohimbine hydrochloride can also produce psychological excitement and increase sexual desire. Like other adrenergic blocking drugs, yohimbine is much more effective against adrenergic mediators in blood circulation than against sympathetic nerve impulses. Like tolazolin (benzazoline, benzazoline, benzylimidazole, Tolazoline), it has only slight effect on the adrenergic response of eye smooth muscle. This drug does not block the frequency and muscle strength effects of adrenaline on mammalian heart. Yohimbine has little direct effect on smooth muscle, and its effect on central nervous system is far less obvious than ergot alkaloid, which is characterized by excitement first and paralysis later. The diuretic effect of this drug may be due to the release of hormone in the posterior pituitary gland caused by exciting hypothalamus. In addition, it has obvious local anesthetic effect.
