Whitening ingredients in Licorice
1. Glycyrrhizin and liquiritin
○ Glycyrrhizin has the effects of anti-oxidation, anti-allergic, anti-fungal, preventing skin aging and effectively removing superoxide ions4.
○ Liquiritin has the effects of anti-inflammatory, anti-skin tumors and effectively removing skin stains.
○ Both of them can effectively reduce the activity of tyrosinase. 20μg/mg glycyrrhizin can slow down the formation of melanin in the skin. If it is combined with other types of whitening agents (such as kojic acid), the whitening effect will be more obvious. The dosage is 0.06 %~6 %.
2. Isoliquiritin and isoliquiritigenin
○ Both of them can inhibit the activity of tyrosinase. 0.01 Hmol/L isoliquiritin can inhibit the formation of melanin. The dosage in whitening cosmetics is 1%
3. Glabridin and glabrene
