PRODUCT INTRODUCTION
Description
Sodium metabisulfite is used as an antioxidant in pharmaceutical preparations and as a preservative in foods. Asthmatics are at higher risk of allergic reactions to this compound, and individuals allergic to sodium bisulfite—a food preservative found in wine, fresh shrimp, packaged foods, and restaurant salads and potatoes—may experience severe reactions upon exposure to sodium metabisulfite.
